In the District of Moramanga, sacred sites
consist of small, aligned standing stones, the
presence of which is indicated by one or more
fork-like wooden branches known as
jiro
. They
are implanted and placed near the stones of
each family that have sacrificed a zebu
17
there.
The Bezanozano go to such places to pray, first
for a good yield and then to thank the ancestors
during the harvest.
The first ears of harvested rice are hung on the
jiro
as a token of gratitude

If a family was not able to sacrifice a zebu due to financial reasons,
they simply covered their stone with white fabric.
